Vintage 2005 was warm and dry, with our best parcels coming in early. Blended from both barrel fermented parcels of our Dead Morris vineyard (77%) and long maceration parcels from our Walker vineyards (23%). This wine received 20 months in new fine-grained barrels from Taransaud, Seguin Moreau and St Martin cooperages, before light egg fining and bottling in March 2007.
- Winemaking
Deep rich red in colour, the nose shows fine charry vanillin oak with rich, dark berry blackcurrant fruit, and some leather and spice notes. The palate is rich and round with opulent black fruit flavours and strong tannins reflecting the strength of this vintage. As with all releases of the Tally, it is the harmony and balance of this wine, which are its outstanding features.
