Vintage 2004 was cool and late ripening, producing medium bodied wines with good depth of complex mineral, blackberry fruit and firm tannins.

    • Winemaking

Sourced from our Walker (56%), Dead Morris (41%), Quarry (2.5%) and Rise Vineyards (0.5%), 44% was barrel fermented while 23% had an extended maceration. This wine spent 20 months in tight-grained French oak from Seguin Moreau, Taransaud and Saury and Remond cooperages, before fining and bottling in February 2006.

    • Tasting Notes

Deep red in colour, the nose is dark and deep with aromas of black fruits, mineral, liquorice and integrated vanillin French oak. The palate is sweet and richly flavoured with complex characters of mineral and leather as well as cassis and dark chocolate. The palate is beautifully balanced with a long textured tannin finish.
