2013 Shiraz

2013 Shiraz
$28.00

Vintage 2013 produced excellent shiraz from Dunstan and Kidman vineyards, ripening in late March which is considerably later than in recent years. Matured for 19 months in new (68%) second fill (16%) French oak from Seguin Moreau, Dargaud+Jaegle and Le Grand cooperages. This wine was bottled in December 2014.

Deep red in colour, the nose shows intense perfumed dark blackberry fruit, interwoven with spice and toasty vanillin notes. The palate is medium bodied with fleshy dark liquorice/berry fruit, spicy notes and a soft grainy tannin finish. This wine will improve with further careful cellaring and decanting before drinking.

James Halliday Wine Companion 2017: 95 points

Estate-grown and matured for 19 months in the top-class Louis Latour barriques (68% new). Deeply coloured, vibrant black cherry fruit on the bouquet and a silky, opulent plate, tempered and balanced on the finish by fine, ripe tannins ex the fruit and oak. Drink to 2038

Tony Love, SA Weekend. June 2015

“Also puts you quickly in Coonawarra mode with its dark berry plus intense mint and dark chocolate highlights delivering a powerful fragrance and flavor statement.”
